Mission Statement

MISSION STATEMENT

The Buffalo GLBT Archives will collect, preserve, and make available for educational purposes, materials relating to the history of the Buffalo and Western New York Gay, lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender communities. It will encourage the donation of local materials including but not restricted to: organization-related items, photos, videos, cassette tapes, CDs, diaries, journals, letters, special clothing, posters, banners, flyers, creative writing, speeches, original music, etc. It will also collect supporting materials of national influence such as videos, periodicals, books, etc. In addition, it will raise funds for the preservation, cataloging, display and dissemination of archival materials and information.

The Buffalo GLBT Archives will preserve the long-lived and ongoing history of a diverse community that has struggled for recognition and acceptance. We have established these Archives in honor of the voices we have lost.
